Nicole Tapon ≪Blanc de Siren≫ Bordeaux Blanc 2009
Sauvignon Blanc | Semillon | Sauvignon Gris | Muscadelle
13.5%
White Bordeaux flies way too far under the radar for our liking and it's because of wines like this that they should be championed more! Equal parts Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon (the latter from 90-year-old vines) marry with lesser known grapes Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle. This is concentrated and floral with notes of toasted honey and almond. Bone-dry, with a backbone of fresh acidity, this is a fabulous wine that still has so much to give.
Château Brown Blanc Pessac Léognan 2021
Sauvignon Blanc | Sémillon
13.5%
This is Brown's top white wine. Raised in French barrels for eight months, expect gorgeous notes of grapefruit pith and and lick of pineapple. This is mineral and concentrated, with delicious aromatic profile and length on the palate.
Château Margaux 1990
Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot
12.5%
This is a benchmark wine not just for Bordeaux, but for the 1990 vintage as well. Beautifully mature but still with plenty of vibrancy and fine-tuned tannins, this world class wine is full of black fruit concentration, cassis and more evolved notes of leather cigar box, cedar and graphite. Little more to say other than: 'one of the best wines in the world'.
Château Palmer 1990
Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot | Cabernet Franc | Petit Verdot
12%
This is such a knockout wine. elegantly poised and balanced the Palmer 1990 is a superb example of just how well top Margaux can age. Earthy with layers of dark fruit and cocoa spice on the nose that moves into savoury character on the palate; think dried herbs, leather anise and black olive and you'd be on the right track. A Bordeaux icon.
Château Léoville Poyferré Saint-Julien 2014
Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot | Petit Verdot | Cabernet Franc
13.5% Alcohol
Hints of graphite and cedar spice underpin ripe, powerful notes of bramble fruit and dark plum flashes across the nose. This wine is dense, with herbal, savoury, umami appeal by the way of soy and tapenade interlaced with dried thyme and tobacco. this is refined and approachable with so much opulence and character.
Château Phélan Ségur Saint-Estephe 2016
Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot
13.5%
As we find with much of the great wines from Saint-Estèph, this is a wine that champions minerality and freshness with top notes of wet rocks that compliment ripe black cherry and blackcurrant fruit. The structure is firm but fair, with crunchy acidity and lovely bitter hints of dark chocolate, thyme and rosemary. Bold, but elegant.
